The growing awareness of the most negative aspects of capitalism with the help from one
of my favorite books “Suburbia”, by photographer Bill Owens, gave way to Family Value$.
A satire-based multimedia project that doubles as a Reality TV Game Show
characterized by its absurdity, mysteriousness, and ironic commentary.
During the project, I got the pleasure to talk to strangers in public spaces about their
feelings towards their own lives and struggles. I asked them to “rate” their lives so far. These
later became a parodical element within the project, being categorized as the “Rating” section of
this fictitious show. This helped me implement real-life objections and social struggles in the
project, emphasizing the seriousness of certain issues that some people could easily just laugh at.
